This Week

Welcome back to school! The children have settled in really quickly and are working hard already. This week house points were won by Finches.

On Monday Year 1 will be visiting Marshall's Arm. Wellies and waterproofs and a spare pair of shoes please.

On Wednesday we would like to welcome parents into school for a first aid course – please see separate mail for further information. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how to treat minor injuries in the home.

Our school nurse has a drop in session on Wednesday morning from 8.30 until 10.00.

There is a Bike Right session for Year 5 on Thursday. You will receive an email if your child is on the course.

Finally on Friday we return to our class assemblies. This week is the turn of Mrs Holden’s Year 1 class. Families are welcome to attend and join the children in the classroom afterwards to show off their work.

Spring Term English

English

This term, we will be studying a variety of texts and short films during English lessons to support in the development of children's written work and knowledge of SPaG objectives for the Year 6 curriculum.

Miss B

Miss B's English group will be exploring the story of 'The Dinosaurs of Warerhouse Hawkins' for the first half term and then will be completing a revision unit based on producing a sample of writing linked to a variety of genres. These will be linked to other subject areas in the curriculm where possible.

Miss Tench

Miss Tench's group will be exploring the story of, 'The Selfish Giant' and will be required to write in a variety of genres based on this. The final outcome is a piece of writing from another person's perspective.
