Learning and Skills Hub
We have been fortunate here at Charles Darwin Community Primary School to have worked with the North West Family Learning Alliance for over 12 years.
This wonderful organisation provide bespoke training courses based in familiar school surroundings for parents, carers and children on wide ranging subjects with the aim of developing and furthering strong relationships and cooperation whilst learning new skills, techniques and even qualifications.
Charles Darwin families have enjoyed courses on such diverse topics as help your child with phonics, reading or maths, Story sacks puppet making, family art, first aid, family finances and computing.
Attending courses has also been a wonderful first step for many parents and carers into the magical world of school life with a number gaining English and maths qualifications through adult only courses, which have then led to accreditation as teaching assistants and future careers.
Parents and carers have told us that being in the safe and secure school environment, whether taking their first steps into further training or simply enjoying fun activities with their child, has been enjoyable, relaxing and hugely beneficial – the free crèche, companionship and plentiful supply of tea, coffee and biscuits helps too!
The NW Family Learning Alliance is to undergo changes in 2022’23 and Charles Darwin will be at the forefront of this with us being designated a Learning and Skills Hub. I am looking forward to this next chapter in our work together and am confident our school community will continue to benefit from wide ranging opportunities for both fun activities as well as personal development.
